RETAIL BANKING FOR PROFESSIONALSCourse Synopsis Even with the challenges of the recent banking crisis, there remains a growing and profitable market for retail banking across the world, especially in emerging markets where the previously “unbanked” now require banking facilities in increasing numbers. Retail banking offers a huge range of services to a wide variety of clients and the skills needed to manage a retail operation remain many and varied. The recent liquidity crisis has added additional management challenges and will change some banking practices permanently. As clients, shareholders and regulators seek reassurance that their institution is soundly based, the need for up to date skills has never been greater. This course provides delegates with an intermediate level in-depth focus on retail banking at both the strategic and operational levels. Experienced bankers can update their skills and gain a better and more detailed understanding of the changing banking business, the current economic climate and the recent regulatory and market challenges including:
Methodology Using a mixture of structured lectures, delegate discussions and practical case studies, delegates will improve their skills by direct learning, through group discussions and by sharing their own experiences as well as those of the expert trainer. The trainer will encourage active debate at all times to ensure that delegates are able to gain the maximum benefit from the course. The case studies will be tailored to match the mix of ability and experience of the delegates attending the course ensuring that the examples all have direct and actual relevance to the group’s individual working environments. Level of preparedness A working knowledge of retail banking is assumed but if necessary the course will commence with a very brief refresher to deal with essential concepts. Delegates will be encouraged to share their experiences and to identify those areas of particular interest to them so that the course can be fine tuned if necessary to meet the group’s actual requirements so that all delegates achieve the maximum value from the event.
